Government today said that locust control operations have been done in more than 5,66,000 hectares area in ten States till now. The states are Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand and Bihar.

Agriculture Ministry said, control operations were carried out during day and night time yesterday, at four places in Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Bikaner districts of Rajasthan and two places in Kutch district of Gujarat against hoppers by Locust Circle Offices.

The Ministry said, adequate manpower and control teams with spray vehicles are deployed in Rajasthan, and Gujarat. Hoppers are still active in Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Bikaner districts of Rajasthan and kutch district of Gujarat.

No significant crop losses have been reported from any State. However, some minor crop losses have been reported in some districts of Rajasthan.
