Director Pravin Tarde trolled for keeping Constitution book under Ganesh idol; apologises on social media

Pune: Film director Pravin Tarde was trolled heavily on social media on Saturday (August 22) after he posted images of the decoration based on 'Pustak Bappa' theme around the Ganesh idol installed at his home in which the Constitution of India was kept under the idol. A few hours later, Tarde admitted his mistake and posted a video offering an unconditional apology.

In the apology video, Tarde said, "I had decorated the place in my home based on the concept of 'Pustak Bappa' this year. But, I made a mistake. The Constitution of India was placed under the idol of the Ganesh idol. Ganesh is the god of intellect and art, and that was my feeling behind the act. But, it was a big mistake. I publicly apologize to those whose feelings were hurt by this," said Praveen Tarde.

Tarde had installed Ganesh idol in his house on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. He had kept several books on all four sides of the Ganesh idol. The idol of Ganesha was placed on a special seat and the Constitution book was placed under the seat. After Tarde made this image public, he started receiving comments on social media platforms, phone calls and messages on the phone. Tarde immediately removed the posted image and issued an apology to his followers. "There will be no more such mistakes," he assured. He then posted a detailed video of his apology to his followers.

Tarde has made several films including 'Mulshi Pattern', which depicted the changes Mulshi tehsil in Pune district has undergone due to the rapid economic development which led to skyrocketing land prices leading to the creation of real estate mafias in the area. Tarde was allegedly assaulted by three men inside his office on Paud road in November 2018, after the film's release.
