Ghaziabad: Traffic police in the city has finally decided to tackle the congestion on the streets after incessant rains led to waterlogged roads and heavy snarls for several days.
They have selected 18 points across Ghaziabad to apply some curbs to smoothen vehicular movement.
Traffic cops said that on Wednesday and Thursday, more than 250 cars and heavy vehicles like trucks and buses broke down, which lead to congestion on roads. “We have identified waterlogging spots and made a plan to deal with jams due to the rain,” he added.
The 18 points include Lal Kuan, ABS junction, Meerut Tiraha, Sihani Chungi, Gaushala underpass, Rahul Vihar underpass, Tigri underpass, CHC Muradnagar, Sikri petrol pump chowraha in Modinagar, Rajchopala Modi Mandir in Modinagar, UP Gate, Khoda underpass, Kanawani Puliya, Kala Pathar underpass, Bhopura U-turn, Tulsi niketan road, Balram Nagar U-turn, and Loni Tiraha.
Ramanand Kushwaha, SP (traffic) of Ghaziabad said that under the ‘rain scheme’ 18 points in the district were closely monitored on Wednesday and Thursday. “We have thousands of traffic cops and have involved over 1,500 cops from the police lines into action to manage traffic during the monsoons,” he added.Traffic cops faced issues while removing vehicles that broke down and cranes were sent to these 18 points for the same.
