Police have identified the suspect as Kiran Shivaji Dole (27), residing at Santosh Nagar in Katraj. He was a criminal-on-police-record and was extended from city limits two years ago. He married a girl a year before and was lying low for a year after the police action.

The suspect has been identified as Omkar Jori, a resident of Santosh Nagar in Katraj. A case has been filed against Jori and his two brothers at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. They have been booked under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

Meanwhile, Dole's dead body was exhumed from the residence of Jori on Friday afternoon. The body was found stuffed in a gunny bag. A missing person complaint was filed by Dole's wife on Thursday (August 20) at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. The complaint stated that Dole had gone missing from August 16 after he went out with his three friends from the neighbourhood. Dole's cellphone too was not reachable.

Investigations revealed that Dole was gagged and throttled to death by the suspects on August 16 night. One of the suspect, took their grandmother to Lonavala, while the other two stayed back and buried the body. Jori, along with his two brothers, had again gone to Lonavala at their maternal uncle's place after committing the murder. Meanwhile, the incident came to light after the grandmother of the suspects told their relatives about the murder, who later informed the Lonavala police about the incident.

Lonavala police contacted Bharati Vidyapeeth police after which a search was conducted at Jori's residence. The police team noticed a foul odour coming from a room inside the house. After digging up the floor, the police exhumed Gole's body packed in a gunny bag. Later the dead body was sent for post-mortem. Police have recorded the statements of the grandmother and other relatives on Friday evening. Bharati Vidyapeeth police have formed three teams to nab the three suspects.
