Representative imageBHUBANESWAR: The directorate of higher secondary education under the state’s school and mass education department on Friday began the procedure of online admissions in Class XI (plus II first year) of higher secondary schools (previously junior colleges) for the current academic session.
The directorate has invited online applications from students starting from 11am on Friday. On the first day (till 6pm), around 33,000 students had registered their names for online admissions. More than 18,000 of them have applied by paying fees online. The process will continue till October 7.
To get admission into Plus II courses, applicants must have passed the high school certificate (HSC) examination conducted by the board of secondary education (BSE), Odisha, or its equivalent board. “The last date of applying online is September 4. All relevant documents will be verified at the selected higher secondary schools (HSSs) during the time of admission only,” an official source said.
Students can apply online through www.samsodisha.gov.in. The application fees are to be paid online. Students will then have to take a print out of the application form and payment receipt for future reference. Application fee for general students is Rs 200 and for ST and SC category it is Rs 100. The fee has been slashed by Rs 100 in each category this year.
The merit list of the first selection will be published at 11 am on September 9. The admission of the students selected from the first list will be held between September 11 and September 18. Unlike previous years, students will not visit any nearby student academic management system (SAMS) centre or college for the rectification of errors in the application forms. It will be done by the respective HSSs while conducting the admission of the students.
The merit list of the second selection will be out on September 23. The admission for the second selection candidates will start from September 24 and continue till 6 pm of September 28. “If a student from outside the state or education board fails to submit the documents on the day of the admission because of travel restrictions or Covid reason, he or she can give an undertaking to furnish the documents within a month,” an official said.
