Nearly 90 per cent of H-4 workers in the United States are highly paid women from India with college degrees as per a blog written by David J Bier, an immigration policy analyst at the Cato Institute’s Centre for Global Liberty and Prosperity. Spouses of H1-B visa holders get the H-4 work visa, however, US president Donald Trump is attempting to stop these work permits, which will have an overwhelming impact on Indian women. It has been estimated if Trump were to succeed, it would contract the US economy by at least USD 7.5 billion annually.
