WhatsApp on Android may soon get ‘camera’ icon back and more
NEW DELHI: Android users may soon get redesigned icons on WhatsApp. According to a report in WABetaInfo, the online platform that tracks the upcoming changes and features on the instant messaging platform, WhatsApp has submitted a new Google Beta Program that brings the version up to 2.20.198.9. The revamped Location icon can be seen in the attach section of the app.

Besides this, the Camera icon too is back. This icon was reportedly removed and placed with a shortcut for Rooms, the recently-launched video conferring platform from the company. However, the report from WABetaInfo claims that the instant messaging app has brought back the camera shortcut in this beta update.

As per the WABetaInfo report, this feature was spotted in the beta version 2.20.198.9 of the Android app. However, there may be some beta users who may not see the changes yet and they may see them in the subsequent update. “If you don’t see these new icons with the Camera shortcut, please wait for the next beta,” said WABetaInfo in its report. After the feature is rolled out to all Android beta users of the app, these new icons should be rolled out to all Android users as part of the future app updates that you may find on the Google Play Store.

Earlier this month, WhatsApp also added support for Advanced Search mode to the Android beta app with update version 2.20.197.7. For those unaware, this feature will allow users to universally search all types of content — such as photos, videos, links, GIFs, Audio and Documents — through the main search toolbar.
