BJP united, ready for bypolls: Manipur CM

NEW DELHI: Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh, whose government recently won a keenly watched trust vote on August 10 after three BJP MLAs resigned from the party, told TOI on Thursday that “differences can happen in any party. BJP is a democratic party… such differences can be sorted out. We are actively working together. Unity will remain forever”.
This came even as his sonin-law R K Imo Singh, a Congress MLA, was expelled from the organisation for “anti-party activities” the same day. “It depends on him (Imo) if he wants to join the BJP,” Biren said. On Wednesday, five Congress MLAs had joined the BJP in Delhi. “As of now, I cannot say much on Imo. Though he is my son-in-law, what decision he will take is up to him. Let’s hope, wait and watch,” Biren said, hours after he had flown into Delhi from Imphal with the Congress MLAs.
The CM said he would leave it to PM to choose a “chief ministerial face” for the 2022 polls. He added that he was ready for bypolls which could be held along with the Bihar polls “if the EC gives a go-ahead”.
