AGRA: A 16-year-old girl disappeared from police custody in UP’s Etah district hours after she was "rescued" from kidnappers by cops, leading to search for her across the state and suspension of the SHO, IO and a constable.
The girl went missing from Awagarh police station just before she was to record her statement and name the accused on Friday afternoon.
Family members of the girl alleged that policemen were involved in her disappearance. They claimed that the suspect’s uncle, who was taken into custody for questioning after the girl’s recovery, was also mysteriously released.
Taking a serious note of the incident, senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Etah, Sunil Kumar Singh, suspended SHO KK Balyan, IO Devraj and constable Anuradha. A departmental inquiry was also ordered against them.
Additional SP OP Singh said, “The family has been assured that their daughter will be recovered within 24 hours. Three policemen have been suspended. And five teams have been formed to find the girl.”
The minor girl was allegedly kidnapped on August 14 when she had gone out at night to relieve herself. She was then rescued by cops after three days and taken to Awagarh police station. The accused, Luv Kush, is still missing. On their part, local police claimed that the girl ran away after locking woman constable Anuradha inside a toilet.
