CHENNAI: The health condition of playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who is suffering from Covid-19, remains stable, a medical bulletin issued by MGM Healthcare in Chennai said on Friday evening.
SPB is on ventilator and ECMO in the intensive care unit of the hospital. While the ventilator uses pressure to blow oxygenated air into your lungs, the ECMO pumps blood to a heart-lung machine, which removes carbon dioxide and returns oxygen-filled blood back to tissues.
A multi-disciplinary team of medical experts was keeping a very close watch on the vital parameters of SPB, said the medical bulletin issued by MGM Healthcare assistant director Dr Anuradha Baskaran.
“The team has been constantly updating his family regarding his clinical status and progress,” it said.
The 74-year-old singer was admitted to hospital on August 5 with mild symptoms. His condition deteriorated on August 13.
A bulletin issued by the hospital on Thursday said: "Our multi-disciplinary team of clinicians have been actively collaborating with national and international experts and continue to closely monitor his vital parameters.”
