With an intention to have a permanent pond in Mapusa which can be used for Ganesh idol immersion, farmers under the banner of Shri Bodgeshwar Shetkari Sangh will hand over land of around 4000 square meter to Mapusa Municipal Council for developing the land as a pond.

People from Mapusa for the last few years have been raising concern over the immersion site in Mapusa river at Tar and have been demanding that Tar- Bastora immersion site needs to be cleaned and desilted and the pipe bridge over Tar river to be removed so that the flow of water can be restored.

Following which, MMC set up an artificial pond near Bodgeshwar temple this year after getting an NOC from a farmer Neela Parsekar.

The Shree Bodgeshwar Shetkari Sangh has expressed its willingness to hand over land admeasuring 4000 square meter to Mapusa municipality for development of a pond in the interest of Mapusa.

“Farmers under our Sangh will come together and hand over whatever size of land they can contribute. The same will be handed over to chief officer of Mapusa municipal council for development of a pond” informed Sanjay Barde, president Shree Bodgeshwar Shetkari Sangh.
