NEW DELHI: The NEET and IIT JEE exams will take place as per the schedule. The government of India will comply with the Supreme Court observation, a source said and added that the demand for the postponement of the exam is not justify.

"The situation is not conducive due to the Covid-19 pandemic but career of the students cannot be put on hold. Long and full academic year cannot be wasted, keeping this in mind Govt has decided to conduct the NEET & JEE Mains 2020 exams as per the schedule i.e., in the first week of September 2020," the source added.

"We find that there is absolutely no justification in the prayer made for postponement of the examination in question relating to NEET UG-2020 as well as JEE (Main) April, 2020. In our opinion, though there is pandemic situation, but ultimately life has to go and the career of the students cannot be put on peril for long and full academic year cannot be wasted," a release issued by the NTA said.

"... the examination is going to be held with due precaution and it is not going to be postponed. Thus, we find no merit in the writ petition."

It may be noted that the number of people and organisations were against the decision of the government to hold any NEET and JEE Mains examination 2020.
