WELCOME BACK! A good morning session for the hosts. Pakistan will be looking to take early wickets in the afternoon session. We can expect another good contest between bat and the ball. Good news is that there is no rain since the slight delay in the toss earlier today.
That's lunch on Day 1, England 91/2 in 28 overs (Zak Crawley 53* & Joe Root 10*)
Zak Crawley struck a second successive half-century as England made a positive start to the third and final Test against Pakistan, reaching 91/2 at lunch on the opening day at the Rose Bowl on Friday. Crawley will resume in the afternoon session on 53 along with captain Joe Root (10 not out) after England had won the toss and elected to bat. Crawley also scored 53 in England's only innings in the rain-hit second Test that ended in a draw at the same venue last week. England opener Rory Burns continued his poor run when he was caught at third slip by Shan Masood off the bowling of seamer Shaheen Afridi for six. Burns' opening partner Dom Sibley (22) was leg before wicket to Yasir Shah and he too has battled in the series with a top score of 36.

Azhar Ali: "We would've loved to bat first, looks like a very good wicket. But toss is not in our control. We will try to pick up early wickets and utilize the conditions. We are playing with the same side. It's the last Test and important one for us. We are fresh and we will look to give everything. Every batsman likes to score runs and I would want to finish off on a high. It's difficult that we can't go out, but we are happy to be playing cricket."
Joe Root: "We are going to bat first. It looks a bit dry than the previous wicket. It's strange conditions, the winds are quite strong. Hopefully, we can knuckle down and get off to a good start. One change, Sam Curran misses out for Jofra Archer is in. We just want him (Archer) to bowl fast. We don't know when our next game of Test cricket is going to be, so want to make the most of it here."

BAD NEWS! Drizzle started in Southampton. Covers are coming in. A lot is on the cards in this series finale at Southampton, where Pakistan will look to keep a decade-long record against England intact, while the hosts would want to rewrite it. Welcome once again to Timesofindia.com's coverage of Pakistan's tour of England. And it's the third and final Test of the series, with the hosts leading 1-0.
Pakistan haven't lost a Test series to England in 10 years, but that record faces a threat unless Azhar Ali and his team manage to turn their form around. The visitors will have to win to keep their record intact, but a draw will be enough for England to end Pakistan's run.
The first Test at Manchester ended in a close three-wicket win for England, but rain had that final say in the second Test at Southampton, which happens to be the venue for the third match as well.
