Tesla’s entry-level crossover, the Model Y, went toe-to-toe with a powerful BMW X6 M in a quarter-mile sprint in a drag racing event that was held in Romania recently.
Since this Model Y is a range-topping Performance model, it boasts upgraded dual electric motors and has a 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint time of just 3.5 seconds, with a 145 mph (233 km/h) or 155 mph (250 km/h) top speed, depending on the options. Moreover, the Model Y Performance has a range of 315 miles (507 km).
The first-gen X6 M, on the other hand, packs a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that puts out 547 HP (555 PS / 408 kW) and 502 pound-feet (680 Nm) of torque. It sprints from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.7 seconds, and has a 155 mph (250 km/h) top speed that can be lifted to 171 mph (275 km/h) with the optional M Driver’s Pack.
However, this is not your run-of-the-mill X6 M. Instead, it has been modified by G-Power and puts out 720 HP (730 PS / 537 kW) and 701 lb-ft (950 Nm), according to the tuner’s website. The extra oomph has definitely made it faster than the stock model, but G-Power hasn’t published any performance numbers. Even so, could this be enough to help it beat the Model Y Performance?
