Jharkhand recorded eight corononavirus deaths on Wednesday with Jamshedpur continuing to comprise for a vast chunk with six of these casualties and Ranchi and Bokaro reporting one each. With 638
fresh infections in 24 hours, including 121 reported overnight night, taking Wednesday caseload past the 1,000-mark, Jharkhand now has 26,938 cases, of which 9.332 are active, 17,320 have recovered (including 754 on Thursday) and 286 have died.
“All six deaths in Jamshedpur were at from Tata Main Hospital (TMH) in Jamshedpur while Ranchi and Boakro patients died at their respective
Covid hospitals. All the eight were suffering from different comorbidities and above 48 years of age,” said a health department official. More than 100 of Jamshedpur’s 118 casualties have died at TMH and officials are planning to launch a probe into treatment protocols followed here, sources told TOI earlier.
Even as state’s Covid-19 tally on Thursday (517) fell by almost 50% compared to the last two days, the positivity rate remained pegged close to 7.8%. As per data released by NHM , 6,626 samples tested positive on Thursday while the figure was 12,282 on Wednesday.
Ranchi was the lone district to report three-digit
figures for fresh infections with 114 infections followed by
Dhanbad (84), East Singhbhum (61) and Palamu with (44).
