NEW DELHI:
Toyota Urban Cruiser has been leaked even before its booking started. The bookings for the upcoming compact SUV were going to commence on August 22.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser is the rebadged version of the
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the second car under
Suzuki-Toyota agreement in India.
The exterior features of the Urban Cruiser were not expected to differ much from its cousin Brezza. The only change that was expected was in the front-end with a signature Toyota front grille. With the new images published by automobile agency Rushlane, the compact SUV seems to be sporting a front-end which quite similar to Toyota Fortuner.
Toyota Urban Cruiser’s redesigned front-end makes it look like a mini version of Toyota Fortuner. The large two-slat grille with chrome borders has been a favourite in Toyota’s design language in most of its SUVs. The detailing on the front-end remains the same with the dual chamber LED projector units and the dual-function LED DRLs/indicators.
The bumper in the front looks quite more aggressive and muscular compared to Brezza. And it also houses the chrome-finished foglams and a grey skid plate. Additionally, the Urban Cruiser is getting an extra compared to Brezza, which is the new 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor very recently, partially revealed the specifications of the upcoming compact SUV. The Toyota Cruiser has also borrowed the K-Series 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine from the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The Urban Cruiser will be available in both manual and automatic transmissions. And the automatic variants will be equipped with an advanced Li-ion battery with an ISG-integrated Starter Generator (Torque assist, regenerative braking and idle start-stop).
The leaked brochure for the Toyota Urban Cruiser suggests that the compact SUV will be available in 3 dual-tone and 6 single-tone colour options. On the inside, the SUV is expected to feature a dual-tone black and brown interior colour scheme.
The Urban Cruiser is expected to start somewhere around Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom).
Although the Urban Cruiser is gearing up for a launch in the upcoming festive season, a report by motoring publication Rushlane suggests that the SUV will be launched on September 22.
