Lucknow: BJP MLA Janmejai Singh passes away

LUCKNOW: BJP MLA from Deoria Sadar seat, Janmejai Singh (75), passed away after suffering a massive heart attack late Thursday night.
Singh had arrived in Lucknow to attend the monsoon session of UP assembly. On the first day, he attended the session through video conferencing. Late Thursday evening he complained of uneasiness after which he was taken to Civil hospital where he was tested for coronavirus. His report turned out to be negative.
After his condition deteriorated further, he was shifted to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital. He was subsequently admitted in the cardiology department, where he died during treatment. According to reports, Singh had suffered a minor cardiac attack four months ago.
Singh has represented Deoria sadar twice on BJP ticket. In 2012, he defeated BSP’s Pramod Singh, while in 2017 he trounced SP candidate JP Jaiswal by a margin of over 46,000 votes.
