Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal DIBRUGARH: Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday asked health authorities to focus on more testing in the two upper Assam districts of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia in wake of the rise in Covid-19 cases.
In a meeting held at the Dibrugarh deputy commissioner’s conference hall attended by officials of Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) as well as district and health officials of both districts, Sonowal said that only through timely detection, tracing and treatment, the pandemic can be controlled. He directed officials to ramp up testing in the two districts covering all places, including tea garden areas.
“We have seen that Covid-19 has been spreading in both Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts. The citizens should be very conscious and need to follow the guidelines of the health department. Social distancing, use of masks and maintaining hygiene is a must for all if we have to win the battle against the novel coronavirus. Due to the powerful steps taken by the health department and corona warriors, we have been able to put a strong fight against the disease. I appeal to everyone to strictly follow the safety protocols,” CM Sonowal said.
