AHMEDABAD: A couple from the Vejalpur area of the city allegedly lured a man from Bopal with the promise of a pulao treat at a famous city restaurant saying they would arrive at a compromise in an old case. When the man arrived at the spot, he was welcomed with punches rather than pulao. The matter reached Aslali police on Tuesday night.
Bhavesh Patel, 29, a resident of South Bopal, works at a bank in Sanand. In his FIR, he stated that Manoj Rajput and his wife Sejal Rajput had a fight with him near Vishala Circle four months ago over a petty issue. Patel had filed a police complaint against Manoj and Sejal, for intimidation. On Tuesday afternoon, Manoj called Patel and said that he wanted to strike compromise and as a goodwill gesture would treat Patel to pulao.
Patel accepted his invitation and told him he reach the restaurant whenever he was called. After a while, Patel got a call from Sejal who told him she would pick him up from his house and they would go to a hotel in Lambha. Patel accepted and rode pillion on Sejal’s scooter. Near Kamod village, Sejal stopped the scooter and told Patel she wanted to relieve herself. She went into the bushes nearby and suddenly Patel saw Manoj there.
Manoj began abusing Patel, asking him why he was roaming with his wife. Before Patel could react, Manoj began beating him before some local residents rescued Patel.
