Delhi Metro passengers will now be able to keep a smart card with an auto top-up feature!

Daily commuters of Delhi Metro (DMRC) will now be able to take advantage of a new type of smart cart facility, in which a new auto top-up feature will enable them to automatically recharge at the Automatic Fare Collection Gate of their cord metro station. This new smart card will be available to customers through the 'AutoPay' app which has been developed specifically for this purpose.


Anuj Dayal, executive director of corporate communication of DMRC, told here on Wednesday that the smart card issued by 'AutoPay' will have an auto top-up facility whenever the card price is less than Rs 100, then the card at the Automatic Fare Collection entry gate An amount of Rs. 200 will be automatically credited. Autopay will cause top-up value customers' linked card or auto-debit from the bank on the next working day.

Mr. Dayal said that to avail the services of 'Autopay' smart card, the user has to download the 'Autopay' app (available for Android users on the Google Play Store and Apple Store iPhone users) or register themselves on the Autopay mobile site and Bank / Credit Card / UPI account has to be linked to the card which is a one time process. The customer will be charged a nominal facility fee (maximum one percent) for each transaction.

He told that the passengers who already have Delhi Metro Smart Card can enable the auto top-up feature in their card, for which they will have to register themselves through the 'AutoPay' app. Cardholders will have to activate their card once in three days after registering their cards by visiting the customer care center of any metro station. This facility will be very helpful when the daily commuters follow a new travel protocol i.e. when the Metro services are restored which will include social distancing and contactless service due to the Coronavirus epidemic.
