  • There has been a slight improvement in respiratory parameters of former President Pranab Mukherjee, though he continues to be on ventilator support, according to the Army Research and Referral Hospital on Thursday.
  • The Army hospital, Delhi Cantonment said that the Mukherjee's vitals are stable and he is being monitored closely by specialists.

  • Millions of internet users on Thursday are facing trouble while sending emails and attachments through Gmails and also connecting with many of the G suite services.
  • A few minutes ago, the Google apps status page updated to confirm that they have received reports of an issue with Gmail and Google Drive.
  • Google's status page also said they are investigating the issue. It also indicated reports of problems with Google Meet, Google Voice and Google Docs, while anecdotal reports show people are having issues uploading to YouTube as well.

Russian opposition politician Navalny poisoned, hospitalised

  • Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny was poisoned and hospitalised on Thursday morning, his spokeswoman said.
  • The 44-year-old foe of Russia's President Vladimir Putin felt unwell on a flight back to Moscow from Tomsk, a city in Siberia, Kira Yarmysh said on Twitter.
  • “The plane made an emergency landing in Omsk. Alexei has a toxic poisoning,” Yarmysh tweeted.
  • Navalny is unconscious and was placed on a ventilator in an intensive care unit. According to Yarmysh, he must have consumed something from the tea he drank this morning.

Chandrababu Naidu alleges scam in housing scheme for poor, requests Andhra CS to conduct inquiry

  • Alleging there is a scam in the purchase of marshlands and low lying land at "feigned prices" for constructing houses for the poor, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader N Chandrababu Naidu has written to Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary urging him to conduct an inquiry into the same.
  • The former chief minister said that he was disheartened by the government acquiring the land belonging to the poor, and downtrodden sections of the society in the name of housing sites for the poor and further said that it has now ventured into buying marshland, wetland, low lying land, mangroves or other forest lands which is not suitable for housing in an illegal manner.

  • The national capital has been witnessing rains since morning and flight operation at Delhi's IGI Airport could be affected due to them, according to the Delhi Air Traffic Control's (ATC's) warning issued to all airline carriers.
  • "Between 8:30 am and 10:30 am IST, it is prone to thunderstorms with light and rain and wind speed 3 knots, direction 130 degree. Hence! All airlines take necessary action. ATC also advises airlines to deal with dense clouds near the airport," Delhi ATC advised airlines.

Fire at residential building in Delhi's Lakshmi Nagar, 3 rescued

  • Three persons have been rescued by the fire department after a fire broke out at a residential building in Krishan Ganj, Lakshmi Nagar of Delhi early today morning.
  • The three rescued persons have been identified as Aadil (52 years), his wife Ishrat Aadil (45 years), and Ali Aadil (12 years).
  • The fire broke out in the meter board of the building which has around 17 flats. In the fire, 11 two-wheelers including seven scooters and four motorbikes were damaged.

North Korea to unveil new economic plans in January party meeting

  • The delivery executives said the petrol consumes most of their income as its prices have also been increased in recent times.
  • Now, they are demanding the old payment structure which gives them Rs 35 to Rs 40 for each delivery.
