End ‘toxic’ TV debates: Cong to broadcast body

NEW DELHI: Days after the death of Congress spokesperson Rajiv Tyagi shortly after he appeared in a television debate, a delegation of Congress leaders met the News Broadcasting Standards Authority (NBSA) and petitioned it to issue an advisory to media houses to enforce a code of conduct to curb “sensationalist, slanderous and toxic” TV debates.
The delegation, comprising senior advocate and RS MP Abhishek Singhvi, and party spokespersons Pranav Jha and Jaiveer also emphasised the need for strict adherence to NBSA guidelines.
