Mugen Turns Up The Heat On The 2020 Honda Civic Hatch (But Only A Little)

We’ve already seen what Mugen can do for the 2020 Honda Civic Type R, which gained beefy spoilers, a massive diffuser, large wing and even hood vents, not to mention loads of carbon fiber elements and Alcantara inside.

So what about the regular Civic hatchback you ask? Worry not, because the Japanese firm has that covered too.

While there are plenty of styling changes here, none of them are as extreme as what you’re likely to get by customizing the Type R. Everything from the spoiler lip, side skirts, diffuser and even the wheels are a great deal more sensible-looking.

A quick rundown of the mods would look a little something like this: carbon front grille garnish, front bumper garnish, front lip spoiler, side skirts, rear diffuser, tailgate spoiler, custom 19-inch wheels, a sports exhaust system, low temp thermostat, new brake pads and rotors, ventilated visors, LED taillights, LED mirror inserts, carbon fiber mirror covers, door handle protector and even a carbon license plate holder.

Mugen says that the diffuser is compatible with both the custom sports exhaust, as well as the standard muffler. The former however features a dynamic-looking dual hexagonal design, referencing the shape of a fighter jet nozzle.

Inside, you get the sports steering wheel, full bucket seats, a quick shifter, engine start/stop switch, inner door protector, custom scuff plates and custom mats.

As far as U.S. buyers are concerned, you can grab yourself a stock 2020 Civic Hatchback from $21,750, while the flagship Type R version will set you back at least $36,995.
