Greater Noida: A group of locals in Rabupura’s Tirthali village protested against the management of a private hospital on Wednesday after a woman and her newborn died due to complications during childbirth.
According to sources, the deceased, Naseem Bano, was admitted to the hospital on Monday. Her family alleged that due to negligence of hospital’s management, she delivered a stillborn baby and succumbed to internal bleeding hours after delivery Tuesday.
Naseem’s husband, Mohammad Ali, alleged that at first, he had taken her to a government hospital but since there was no doctor present at that time, he talked to the doctor of a private hospital who assured her treatment and delivery while quoting Rs 25,000 as the fee. “I had given Rs 9,000 at the time of admission and asked to start the process. They did not not allow any family members to stay with my wife,” he said. Ali added, “They handed me the body of my son and asked to bury him and when I asked about my wife’s condition they said that she is out of danger and needs rest,” he said.
However, on Tuesday, the hospital informed the family that the woman had died. “They said that she had died due to complications during the childbirth. They did not even conduct an autopsy,” Ali said in his complaint. The family cremated the body in late evening. “An investigation has been initiated on the basis of the complaint filed by the family. An FIR will be lodged if any foul play comes up in the probe,” said Vinit Kumar, the SHO, Rabupura.
