Representative imageNEW DELHI: A snatcher, who had stolen a mobile phone from a woman, managed to hack into her photographs and started threatening her friends to leak their intimate pictures on social media. He demanded Rs 2 lakh from one of the friends in return for not posting her photograph. The man, Junaid (22), was arrested on her complaint.
Vijayanta Arya, DCP (North-West), said the woman had approached the Adarsh Nagar police station with a complaint in which she mentioned getting calls from an unknown number demanding the money. The caller had also forwarded her intimate photographs and was sending lewd messages. He had also given her a mobile wallet link to transfer the money.
The number was tracked down to Bharatpur in Rajasthan and the accused was arrested. The mobile phone on which the Paytm account was active had four SIM cards issued on fake ID of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, through which Junaid transferred the amount to his fake bank account. Police seized the phone from his possession. Junaid also disclosed that he was involved in online frauds with his brother and other members of his village.
