Ghaziabad: A former waiter in a restaurant was allegedly found hanging from a ceiling fan in the staff quarter in Raj Nagar District Centre early on Tuesday. Police said the deceased, Trilok Singh (24), was a native of Almora district in Uttarakhand. His elder brother lives in Noida and works as a security guard there.
Mohammad Aslam, the SHO of Kavi Nagar said around midnight, police received the information about the suicide. “A police team soon reached the spot and sent the body for autopsy. The reports are awaited,” he added.
Trilok’s family has alleged that the restaurant’s manager killed him as he had been terminated from the job and had been asking for salary for the past 10 days.
Trilok’s elder brother, Pawan, told TOI that he had been serving food in the restaurant for the past four years and used to live in a nearby building along with other employees. “On August 5, the manager of the restaurant terminated Trilok without giving his salary for July and also didn't tell him any reason behind the action. On August 11, the manager threw Trilok out of the restaurant and told him that no one would be responsible if anything happened to him,” he said.
Later, he started living with his brother. Pawan said on Monday Trilok went to the restaurant to take his salary and then transferred Rs 3, 781 in his account. “Then I tried to call him several times but he did not receive my calls. Around 1am, I received a phone call from the police that Trilok had committed suicide in the staff quarter,” as Pawan stated in his complaint.
Police said they are investigating other angles in the case as well.
