Gurgaon: The declining number of Covid-19 cases in the city over the last few days has had a ripple effect on its
containment zones. With Gurgaon continuing to report less than 100 daily cases now, the district administration has decided to reduce the number of such
zones from 15 to seven.
Deputy commissioner Amit Khatri, who issued the order on Tuesday, said in a press conference that the number of containment zones has reduced because the period of containment was reduced from 28 to 14 days. This means a containment zone can be denotified two weeks after the last patient recovers. The containment zones retained in the list include lanes U26, U27, U28 in DLF Phase-3; lanes 1 and 2 in Shiv Vihar (Rajiv Nagar); lanes 4, 7, 9 and 17 in Hans Enclave, lanes 1 to 4 in Shivaji Nagar; gate no. 2 lane in Sector 9, floor nos. 10 and 11 in BPTP Park in Sector-30 etc.
The last order for containment zones was released on August 10. Since then, 687
Covid cases have been added in Gurgaon. On Tuesday, 98 fresh cases were reported. The number of active cases in the district is now 763 and the recovery rate is 91.4%.
Officials said the district administration has decided to conduct intensive testing in industrial and densely-populated areas to contain the spread of Covid. A random sampling of 10% of industrial workers employed in a firm has been mandated. Moreover, after 10% of samples are tested, 5% of workers employed in an industrial firm will be tested every month. The method of testing, RT-PCR or rapid antigen, has been left to the discretion of the industry.
Officials said that the health department has its focus on highly congested areas like Wazirabad, Tigra, Lakshman Vihar, Chanderlok and Sohna.
