Haryana: Incessant rain in parts of Yamunanagar hits normal life

Vehicles submerged in floodwater in Yamunanagar
YAMUNANAGAR: Normal life was thrown out of gear in Yamunanagar on Tuesday due to incessant rain in Bilaspur and Chhachhrauli blocks.
Due to the heavy downpour, seasonal Nakti rivulet, a tributary of Markanda river, in Sadhaura and Somb river, a tributary of Yamuna, in Bilaspur suddenly swelled beyond the danger mark causing inconvenience to the public.
Due to sudden flow in Nakti rivulet, the water entered the houses in Sadhaura town early on Tuesday. The floodwater could not be removed from the house till Wednesday evening.
The overflowing Nakti river also damaged some portions of a bridge near Rampur Genda village and caused damages to some embankments in the area.
Yamunanagar DC Mukul Kumar and other government officials on Tuesday visited the flood-hit areas of Chhachhrauli and Bilaspur.
DC Mukul visited Kot-Darpur Road, Pratap Nagar-Bilaspur Road, an under-construction bridge between Bhamnauli and Lalhari village and a damaged bridge near Rampur Genda village. The DC instructed the concerned officials to expedite the repair works at these locations.
“It was found that some roads, embankments and a bridge got damaged due to water in Bilaspur and Chhachhrauli areas. I reviewed the damages with the officials of concerned departments on Tuesday and they were instructed to complete the repair works at the earliest,” said DC Mukul.
