#DurgaPuja2020: City pandal plans to take the Goddess to the people

The 95 Palli, Jodhpur Park, Puja Committee has found an ingenious way to help people pay obeisance to Goddess Durga without even visiting the pandal. In a way, they will be taking the home delivery route ——driving a mini pandal of sorts around the area to allow people a glimpse of the idol. “It will be either a miniature or an extension of the pandal with a small idol. We are yet to decide on that,” said one of the members, adding that they will have a meeting on Wednesday to finalise things.
The plan is to create a tableau that will move around the city and collect pushpanjali from people. This will be delivered to the main pandal once every day. The organisers said decorating the tableau will not be very difficult for them because they have been taking part in the Durga Puja Carnival organised by the state government.
Artist Sushanta Pal has come up with the idea this year. “I do not want to reveal the entire plan. All I want to say is that this year, attracting people to the pandal won’t be wise. So, we are planning to take our Puja to them,” he said.
However, the organisers are sorting out a couple of issues. “First, we are thinking about the law and order situation. If the tableau stands somewhere and attracts a large crowd, which might cause a law and order situation. We will have to come up with a solution to this,” said the organiser.
