School Reopening: Schools and colleges to open in Assam from September 1!

Education Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma said that teachers and staff of all educational institutions in Assam will be tested for COVID-19 and those found negative will have to be ready to join the work as the state will get schools and colleges on September 1 to reopen.


He said the honorary COVID-19 trial would start from August 21.

Sharma said, "Employees of educational institutions should continue on their duty till 1 September. We will wait for the order of the Union Home Ministry to reopen the schools and we will issue the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) within 24 hours. "

He said that employees who went back to their hometown due to the lockdown should return and remain on standby until further orders or else it would be considered as leave without pay.

The minister said that following the directive of the Gauhati High Court to the state government on fees, private schools have been asked to give a 25 percent exemption to the students.
