Goa University PANAJI: Goa University (GU) was ranked in the 26 to 50 band in the country on Tuesday in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievement (ARIIA) of the Union ministry of education. The varsity, however, pointed out that GU was wrongly categorised as a centrally funded institution.
“Goa University is ranked between 26-50 in the country in a given category. It’s a significant achievement. However, we are wrongly categorised under Centrally Funded Institutions. We should have figured under State/State Funded Universities. We would have ranked higher if we were ranked under State/ State Funded Universities,” said Goa University registrar YV Reddy.
The ARIIA was introduced by the Union ministry of education to systematically rank all major higher education institutions and universities in the country on indicators related to innovation and entrepreneurial development among the students and faculty members.
In June this year, when the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2020 was announced by the Union ministry of education, GU had moved up 12 positions to be ranked 81 among the 100 best universities in India.
