Ghaziabad: Minister of state for health Atul Garg tested positive for Covid-19. The minister complained of breathing trouble on Monday afternoon following which a team of doctors reached his house and conducted rapid antigen test. He was then admitted to Yashoda Hospital. His condition is stable, doctors said.
The district administration and the health department officials are now getting the family members and the minister’s staff tested.
“Atul Garg tested positive on Monday night and has been admitted to a private hospital in Nehru Nagar. As per protocol, we are carrying out tests on his family members and staffers. We are trying to trace those who might have come in contact with the minister,” said an official from the health department. “So far, we have screened 48 people, including 26 of his family members. The others are staffers and acquaintances.”
Garg has tweeted saying all those who came in contact with him between August 15 and 18 should get themselves tested. He has also said that on August 15, an RT-PCR test was carried out and his report was negative.
Garg had inaugurated the RT-PCR laboratory on August 15 and officials from the administration and the health department had attended the event.
He had also attended the inaugural function of the Noida Covid Hospital on August 8.
