Victoria records 222 new coronavirus cases, 17 deaths

Victoria has recorded 222 new cases of coronavirus and 17 more deaths in the past day.
It represents the lowest daily rise in new cases in about a month.
It is the lowest increase since July 20, when there were 275 new cases.
An inquiry into Victoria’s hotel quarantine program, which has been linked with the state’s second wave of COVID-19, is due to hear evidence today from Dr Charles Alpren, an epidemiologist with the Department of Health and Human Services.
