2021 BMW M4 Coupe Continues Its Striptease Showing More Skin Ahead Of September Unveiling

Testing of the new generation BMW M4 continues with yet another prototype spied in and around the Nurburgring with less camo than ever.

The range-topping member of the 2021 4-Series Coupe family boasts a different grille design, with horizontal slats, a more muscular hood and a more aggressive front bumper with cutouts on each side and wider lower air intakes to help with cooling along with a thin apron.

The bulging fenders, bespoke side mirrors, bigger side skirts, new rear bumper with a diffuser and quad pipes plus a discrete boot lid spoiler are also visible in the latest spy shots. The tester features black alloy wheels, contrasting the matte blue paint finish of the body, and light brown leather upholstery in the cockpit, which will otherwise look identical to the latest 3- and 4-Series, save for a few M-specific upgrades.

BMW has already confirmed that the twin-turbo 3.0-liter straight-six engine will provide the fire power, in two variants. In the base model, it will deliver 473 HP (480 PS / 353 kW) paired to a six-speed manual transmission (an 8-speed automatic will likely be optional) and rear-wheel drive, whereas the Competition will bring 503 HP (510 PS / 375 kW) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque to the party. The upper spec will launch with an 8-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, but it will be joined by a four-wheel drive variant later on, mirroring the bigger M5.

The 2021 M3 and M4 will be officially unveiled in mid-September, while the xDrive AWD models will follow later on.
