Gurgaon: The Huda City Centre flyover, which was supposed to open in February this year, is still under construction and is running way behind schedule. Sources said it will take at least a month more to open.
According to GMDA officials, this delay can be attributed to several reasons like shifting of a water pipeline and the month-long construction ban during the lockdown period. The work had resumed in April.
However, even after the ban was relaxed, shortage of labourers had slowed down the pace of construction. “While the work is in progress, it is likely to take at least another month,” said a source within GMDA.
Meanwhile, the diversions which have been in place since last year are making it inconvenient for the residents.
The flyover is being built as a part of a bigger redevelopment project of Huda City Centre which also includes an underpass and two foot overbridges.
The 700m long underpass will be used by vehicles coming from Signature Tower and going toward Subhash Chowk. The flyover (grade separating structure) will be bidirectional and will be 270m long and will connect MF Hussain Marg and sector road connecting Signature Tower with the Huda City Centre junction.
One of the major focus of the project is to make the junction pedestrian friendly. As per the plan conceived by the GMDA, the 300m stretch adjacent to the metro station will be meant solely for pedestrians and free from the traffic movement.
The redevelopment of the junction has been designed in a way that all the traffic crossing the junction and not destined for the metro station will have to either take the proposed flyover or the underpass.
