Woman jumps to death with three-year-old daughter in Surat

SURAT: A 30-year-old woman jumped to death with her three-year-old daughter from their residential building in Puna area of the city on Tuesday. The woman died on the spot while the girl was declared dead during treatment at a private hospital.
Komal Somani jumped from the terrace of five-storey Rudra Mani Avenue with her daughter Mishti on Tuesday afternoon. Somani died on the spot due to severe injuries, while the girl was shifted to a nearby private hospital where she was declared dead during treatment after some time of being admitted. Somani's family lives on the fifth floor of the apartment.
Registering a case of accidental death, police started investigation. Police are yet to find out the exact reason behind the suicide but police suspect that the woman took the extreme step due to marital disputes with husband. Police are yet to question the family members in detail since they are in shock. After detailed investigation the exact cause of death will be found, police informed.
"Police are yet to reach any conclusion. There are some disputes within the family and once the family becomes free from last rights police will question them," said an officer in Puna police station.
