Jyotiraditya Scindia (File photo)INDORE: Attacking Congress for its 'traitor' remark, BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Jyotiraditya Scindia said he just took forward his family traditions and followed the path of truth.
While addressing a gathering during his maiden visit to Indore after joining BJP, Scindia said Congress leaders just want the power back and have nothing to do with promises made to the people.
"I have no expectations from Congress. They (Congress) are just concerned about the chair (power). I believe in truth and am proud of taking my family traditions forward like my grandmother (Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia) and father (Madhavrao Scindia) did by forming Madhya Pradesh Vikas Congress," said Scindia.
He said that it’s more important for him to answer his inner voice than replying to questions of former chief minister (Kamal Nath) and Congress leaders.
"I am only responsible to answer the questions of people," he said.
While addressing a press conference, the Rajya Sabha MP took a dig at MPCC president Kamal Nath’s statement that the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had got the locks of Ram temple at Ayodhya opened in 1985 and said that his party colleague Shashi Tharoor has been making contradictory statements on the temple issue.
"Congress itself doesn’t know what its leaders did and didn’t," Scindia said.
He also commented on senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegation that Facebook ignored applying its hate speech rules to BJP politicians and said the internet is an independent medium. "When people, have nothing to say after losing faith of citizens, they usually take recourse to such issues" he said.
He also said that as per his opinion, strict curbs should be imposed where objectionable things are said against anyone on Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media platforms.
During the press conference, Scindia slammed AICC leadership for ignoring capable leaders in the party and cited example of Sachin Pilot, who had recently revolted against Rajasthan government.
"In Congress, question marks are raised on the capability, which is a matter of pain," said Scindia. Referring to mediapersons, he added, "You all work in an organization and if any question mark is raised on your capability, you will go through the thing, which my ex-colleague faced."
He said, "Pilot is my friend. He has been with me, the last 20 years of my journey as public servant. Everybody is aware of the pain that he has gone through. How after so much delay the Congress is trying to set its house in order is also known to everyone. We all are aware about the truth", Scindia said while addressing a press-conference at Indore airport.
In Indore, Scindia later visited BJP city office and held a meeting with the local party leaders.
