Hearing on a case related to the merger of BSP MLAs of Rajasthan with Congress postponed

The Supreme Court on Monday adjourned the hearing on the petition filed against the six BSP MLAs of Rajasthan being merged with the Congress.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra has decided to hear the petition filed by BJP MLA Madan Dilawar on August 24. Dilawar has filed a petition challenging the Speaker's decision in which he had allowed the merger of six BSP MLAs into Congress.

Advocate Sunil Fernandes, appearing for the assembly speaker, told the bench that the Rajasthan High Court had written only part of the order on Friday. Since it has been decided to keep the High Court closed for three days for cleanliness work, this petition should be heard next week.

It is worth mentioning that the Supreme Court had last week deferred hearing on this petition saying that a similar case is pending in the High Court. The Supreme Court had said that until the High Court passes the order in this matter, we cannot interfere with this issue.
