Welsh Government announces major plan to improve coronavirus testing times ahead of winter 'spread'

Millions of pounds are to be pumped into coronavirus testing infrastructure in a bid to improve turnaround. The Welsh Government has announced that almost £32m in funding has been granted in a bid to provide faster results for contact tracing and ensure Wales is prepared for a potential surge in cases this winter. The money will see more than 100 new staff employed to help trace people with suspected coronavirus, while regional testing hubs will move to a 24-hour operation.

Weather forecast

Locally heavy and perhaps thundery rain across northern Wales will give way to scattered showers and sunny spells through the morning. The showers will ease towards evening. Maximum temperature 21 °C.
