Trichy police book VCK men for celebrating Thirumavalavan’s birthday by defying lockdown norms

TRICHY: The Trichy city police have booked 32 functionaries and cadre of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) for celebrating the party president and MP Thol Thirumavalavan's birthday violating the lockdown norms, on Monday.
The Gandhi market police in Trichy city registered a case against VCK Rock Fort area secretary Albert, state secretary of Labour Liberation Front Prabakaran and 13 others.
The party members hoisted the party flag and distributed masks to the people at Keeraikadai bazaar in Tharanallur on Monday morning.
The Palakakarai police in the city also booked 17 other people,including VCK Palakkarai area secretary R Gnanam and VCK district in-charge Prabakaran for, cutting a cake, hoisting the party flag and bursting crackers in front of North gate at Sengulam colony on Monday night.
The police booked them on charges of unlawful assembly, disobeying the government order, acting in a negligent manner in spreading the viral disease that endangers human life under sections of IPC, Epidemics Diseases Act, Tamil Nadu Public health Act and Disaster Management Act.
