3 secrets that could be behind Kareena Kapoor Khan's incredible pregnancy glow

While pregnancy itself comes with a fresh, radiant complexion for many women, Kareena Kapoor Khan's at-home skincare tips can help you get the healthy glow even if you're not planning to go down that route

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan shared the news that they were expecting their second child with an official statement last week, much to their fans excitement. “We are very pleased to announce that we are expecting an addition to our family!! Thank you to all our well wishers for all their love and support,” said the Bollywood couple. Just like during her pregnancy with son Taimur, Mom-to-be Kareena Kapoor Khan shows no signs of slowing down—she's already gone back to work as the lockdown begins to lift in India. But while sequestered at home through her first trimester, Kapoor Khan's wellness and beauty habits only enhanced her skin, leaving her with a luminous sheen throughout. “A woman can look beautiful and sexy even through her pregnancy. It’s the state of mind, it’s the way you look at life, the way you look at yourself. You don’t have to have the perfect 10 body to look sexy or beautiful. I guess, I looked the best when I was pregnant,” she had shared back in 2018. Here's everything you can add to your daily routine to cop the same glow, pregnancy or not.

1. Yoga

While Kapoor Khan has pivoted from HIIT to kickboxing to pilates, her love for yoga has stayed constant for years. “Yoga is a part of my soul, a part of me,” she shared in an interview in 2016. While yoga has many physical and mental benefits, its skincare benefits have been well documented too. The practice causes vasodilation (widening of blood vessels), which leads to increased blood flow to the skin. This leads to more oxygen and nutrients being rushed to the skin, leaving it looking brighter and more taut. “I feel the inverted postures help the face a lot, and any kind of yogic breathing will help the inner being, automatically affecting the skin. I have been practising yoga for over 10 years and it feels amazing,” she said. Yogic breathing and meditation has been proven to reduce cortisol in the body, which can reduce chances of skin issues like inflammation and acne.

2. DIY face masks

While at home, Kareena Kapoor Khan has indulged in face masks that nourish her skin without being harmful to herself or her pregnancy. She's always been a fan of at-home remedies like almond oil and honey, but tried a sandalwood, Vitamin E and turmeric mask recently. Turmeric and sandalwood are antiseptic and anti-inflammatory ingredients, so they are able to treat dark spots and acne. Vitamin E is a moisturising, soothing ingredient too. “Summer essentials: Messy bun, Kaftan and homemade masks [sic],” she shared on Instagram.

3. A balanced diet

Kapoor Khan has always focused on a balanced, protein-rich and healthy-fat focused diet. “We always included everything that I liked in my diet. I used to have a lot of ghee,” she shared about her must-have during her first pregnancy on a live chat with fans. Healthy fats like ghee are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, which plump the skin and keep it supple and moisturised.
