Role of higher education is very important in nation building: Nishank

Union Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, while referring to the important role of higher education in the process of nation building, said that there has been an age-old tradition of education in India which has established India as a world guru.

Inaugurating the annual national conference of all the Vice Chancellors of the Indian Universities Association organized by the National Law University here on Monday, Mr. Nishank said that history is witness that India has always used knowledge properly and benefited the world from it.

He said, "Higher education plays an important role in the process of nation building. The existence of universities such as Nalanda, Taxila, Vikramashila and Vallabhpuri in ancient India is ample evidence that India has an age-old tradition of education that has established India as a world guru.
