Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh left for Delhi in a chartered plane on Sunday along with a Congress MLA and six former MLAs amid fast-changing political developments. The only Congress MLA who left with the Chief Minister in a specially chartered plane to New Delhi is his relative RK Imo Singh. Before leaving, Biren Singh said that he and the current and former MLAs will meet the BJP central leadership to personally introduce themselves in the national capital.

The six former MLAs who left with the Chief Minister are the MLAs who resigned from the Assembly on 10 August and left the Congress Party on 11 August. All of them are among the MLAs who abstained from the one-day session of the assembly in violation of the Congress whip last week and thus the BJP's N Biren Singh government won the trust vote.

After reaching Delhi, CM Biren Singh said, 'He (6 MLAs) has resigned from Congress and wants to join BJP. So I brought them here. I am trying to meet the National General Secretary and National President of the party. The opposition keeps saying many things but we encourage the democratic setup of the country. All is well in Manipur.
