BHUBANESWAR: With the number of positive cases increasing with each passing day, chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday said every life is precious and that his government is trying its best to offer the best possible treatment to Covid patients.
In his address to the people of the state on the country’s 74th Independence Day after hoisting the tricolour at the Idco Exhibition Ground here, Naveen dwelt at length on the steps taken by his government to contain the spread of the virus. He also paid tribute to the Covid warriors, who succumbed to the virus, and lauded the selfless service of all those who are in the front line of the fight against the pandemic.
“Not a single Covid-19 patient in Odisha should be deprived of treatment because of financial constraints. The state government is providing universal care to Covid patients, completely free of cost. We have been fighting the pandemic with the mission that every life is precious for us,” said Naveen, who attended the first public event on Independence Day since the country and the state went into lockdown.
Only limited guests, including Covid warriors and plasma donors, attended the state-level celebration.
Calling the pandemic a big challenge not only for the country but for the entire human race, the chief minister said it has had an adverse impact on all sectors such as education, health, economy and transport resulting in the loss of livelihoods.
