Three arrested in Trichy for rape of minor girl

TRICHY: The Trichy city police registered two separate cases – a sexual assault case against three men and a molestation case against a 55-year-old man -- under Pocso Act on Sunday.
The all-woman police station in Srirangam registered a case against three men -- R Pasupathi, 19, A Varatharajan, 21 and T Thiruppathi, 21, all from Thiruvanaikovil in Trichy. The three accused were booked for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl, who was their neighbour. All three were arrested on Monday.
The incident took place on August 14. Pasupathi, Varatharajan and Thiruppathi barged into the girl’s house at 11am on knowing she was alone at home and sexually assaulted her.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim, a case was registered against the three men under sections 5 (g) (gang penetrative sexual assault) and 6 of the Protection of children from Sexual Offence Act (Pocso) and sections 450 (house trespass) and 376 (rape) of the IPC.
In another incident, a 55-year-old man was booked for molesting a seven-year-old girl in Ponneripuram area in the city.
The accused has been identified as N Ekkim alias Suber Ali.
The Golden Rock all-woman police said Ekkim worked in a restaurant that was owned by the girl’s relative. He stayed in one of the portions of the victim’s house. At 11am on Sunday, when the girl went to the bathroom, Ekkim followed her and molested the girl. She escaped from him and informed her mother about the incident.
Following this, the mother filed a complaint with the Golden Rock all-women police. Ekkim was booked under sections 7 and 8 of the Pocso Act. He was yet to be arrested, the police said.
