As per the report, Hyderabad received excess rainfall of 22% while Rangareddy and Medchal recorded excesses of...Read MoreHYDERABAD: The recent downpour has resulted in a substantial rise in the groundwater table in Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts according to a report released by the Telangana Groundwater Department (GWD). The report was prepared based on figures from last month’s rain data. As per the report, Hyderabad received excess rainfall of 22% while Rangareddy and Medchal recorded excesses of 33% and 11% respectively.
Consequently, the groundwater table has risen by 4.84 metres above ground level in Hyderabad, 2 metres in Rangareddy and 1.27 metres in Medchal. Interestingly, even Marredpally (in Hyderabad district) was found to have satisfactory groundwater table as a result of the rains. Other areas such as Ameerpet, Trimulgheery among others also saw a considerable rise.
