CHENNAI: The
Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency on Monday started to autogenerate travel e-passes, Greater Chennai Corporation G Prakash said.
He said anyone coming into Chennai from any other district just needs to apply on the
TNEGA portal with their Aadhaar or ration card and will automatically be given an e-pass in line with chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami's announcement last week.
The chief minister on Friday ordered authorities to distribute e-passes immediately to all applicants, who want to travel across the state (within the districts), starting August 17.
"It is a hassle-free system. As the economy is being opened up carefully and in a staggered manner, this will be really a great comfort to citizens," he said.
However, Prakash advised citizens to make use of the facility only for genuine purposes.
