Mumbai: Over 100 nabbed for partying at 3 am in lounge and flouting COVID-19 norms

100 people were found partying at 3 am in Mumbai based lounge amid lockdown restrictions

Mumbai: Despite of state government’s continuous appeal to follow the guidelines of the lockdown, nearly 100 people were partying at a lounge in Mumbai on Sunday. The Mumbai police have nabbed nearly 100 people from the lounge here for allegedly disobeying COVID-19 prevention protocols and indulging in obscene acts. 

All these were later let-off while some which comprised of lounge’s waiters and manager were arrested. The police conducted a raid at the 'Bombay Brute' which is located on Link Road in Jogeshwari on Sunday. The police saw people flouting social distancing, dancing, consuming liquor and smoking hookah. According to the reports, the manager of the lounge had recently contacted these people to come to the site, stating they had reopened the lounge following the easing of restrictions on lockdown.

According to a report in India Today, Oshiwara police station's senior inspector Dayanand Bangar said total 97 people were caught. Of them, 28 women were asked to go while the others were arrested.

They were charged under Indian Penal Code Sections 294 (obscene acts in public), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter) and provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act.
