AIADMK’s Trichy unit wants city to be TN’s second capital

TRICHY: After the ruling AIADMK’s Madurai camp passed a resolution to make that city the second capital of Tamil Nadu, a similar demand is put forward by their counterparts in Trichy to name this city the second capital.
“People have been requesting us to take the demand for making Trichy the second capital to the notice of chief minister. Through the proper channel, we will convey our demand,” P Kumar, former MP and secretary of Trichy suburban-south AIADMK said.
A section of AIADMK cadre expressed disappointment over the second capital demand of Madurai’s AIADMK unit as it was against the dream and actions of former chief minister and AIADMK founder MGR’s dream project, shifting the capital to Trichy city.
“Puratchi Thalaivar (MGR) handpicked Trichy for the second capital status. So, we will reiterate the demand to make Trichy as the second capital,” former minister and Trichy suburban-north AIADMK district secretary M Paranjothi told TOI.
