Two people have escaped from their burning vessel as flames gutted their boat off the coast of Redcliffe on Monday.

Emergency services, including the coast guard, responded to reports of the incident near Newport on the Redcliffe peninsula just after 10am.

A police spokesman said the two people on board at the time evacuated from the burning vessel.

Paramedics were on standby at nearby Endeavour Esplanade and assessed the two people once they were brought back to shore, but they were uninjured.

Firefighters hitched a ride on a coast guard vessel and extinguished the flames on the water.
